Hello to all the Permanent
Makeup Technicians from Florida!
 The recently
successful AAM Convention in Orlando brought to mind that we, of Florida,
have a large representation of PMU techs. A large group, yet not organized
as one entity. In my estimation, we need to form an alliance. With one
voice we can better affect future state legislation; have greater input
to the bylaws and principles in the & AAM; recommend standards for
the training & certification of new technicians; and when organizations
sponsor events in our state, we could recommend the type of programs we
want to see, speakers that we want to hear. As one body, our collective
voice could be effective in having a say what direction our profession
is headed for in the future and how we aim to get there. I have been an
active participant in the industry for many years and I have seen change.
Each year brings newer, better products. Better, more efficient techniques
are being developed every week. Permanent Makeup is here to stay and I
would like to see our state be a leader in the advancement of our profession,
our art. If we are all on the same page in regard to teaching standards,
health issues, and other important issues, we can be there when interested
professionals from other fields are looking to add Permanent Makeup services
to their business. If someone wants to start their own PMU business, a
unified organization could supply recommendations based on the collective
experience of all of us. Last year I attended a "Boot Camp" sponsored
by Dr. Linda Dixon in Hawaii. I had the best time! Ten very seasoned techs
got together and shared their experiences with each other. No ego. No
jealousy. Just hard work, sharing techniques, discussing new ideas, and
forming bonds that will last a lifetime. This is how we should grow. This
is how each of us can be the very best that we can be. This is how it
could be for us in Florida. To this end, I propose to all of you that
we form an alliance, an organization.
We
should do this NOW.
